Matt Mendelsohn

Chief Investment Officer

As Yale University’s Chief Investment Officer, Matt Mendelsohn is responsible for leading the Yale Investments Office, the team that manages the University’s endowment. Prior to his appointment as Chief Investment Officer, Matt managed the Endowment's venture capital portfolio and contributed to the management of most of the asset classes in which Yale invests, focusing on leveraged buyouts and natural resources. He has extensive experience with asset allocation, risk and liquidity management, and sourcing and developing relationships with the University’s investment partners.

Matt joined the Investments Office in 2007 upon graduating from Yale College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics. He is a CFA® charterholder. Matt taught endowment management at the Yale School of Management from 2013 to 2018, and he is a Fellow of Berkeley College.

What is one thing you love about being part of the Yale community?

The truly brilliant, incredibly diverse, and endlessly interesting group of students, faculty, staff, and alumni with whom I get to interact every day.

What is your favorite spot on Yale’s campus?

The South Courtyard of Berkeley College, where my wife and I got married.
