Alison Barad

Director

Alison joined the Yale Investments Office in March 2023 to focus on the Endowment’s leveraged buyout and venture capital portfolios.  She graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a B.S. in Economics.  Prior to YIO, she led the buyout, growth equity, and venture capital portfolios at the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation for over fifteen years.  Previously, Alison was at Morgan Stanley in the M&A group within the investment banking division.  Early in her career, she also worked at the SeriousFun Network, a global non-profit focused on children with life-threatening illnesses.

Why did you join the Yale Investments Office?

I was struck by a genuine commitment to personal and professional excellence across the team.  It felt like a wonderful collection of colleagues who truly care about what they do and why they do it on behalf of the University.  I wanted to contribute to and be part of such a purposeful culture.

What is your favorite Yale sports team?

We are rooting for them all, but I expect you’ll find me, my husband, and our two boys cheering most loudly at Yale’s baseball and soccer games – knowing that’s our family’s own backyard passions!
