Our Team

Bertan joined Yale Investments in June 2017 and focuses on performance reporting and related analytics. He received a BS in Computer Science in 1993 and an MBA in 1995 from UNC Charlotte. Prior to joining Yale, Bertan held senior financial and risk analytics roles at Microsoft Treasury and the Federal Reserve Bank Supervision Group, and served as a vice president at Citizens Financial Group. He became a CFA® charterholder in 2006 before choosing to become inactive in 2016.

Stephen joined Yale Investments in May 2024 and works on the Finance and Investment Operations team. Stephen previously worked at Harvard Management Company as an Associate Director of Finance and in the Assurance practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He earned his CPA in 2018 before choosing to become inactive in 2023. Stephen attended Fairfield University and earned a BS in 2016 and a Master of Science in Accountancy in 2017.

Elizabeth joined Yale Investments in July 2023 and focuses on the Endowment’s leveraged buyout portfolio. She graduated from Princeton in 2016 with a degree in History and received her MBA from the Yale School of Management in 2023. Elizabeth spent three years at the Princeton University Investment Company, where she focused on the real assets portfolio. More recently, she worked at Ithaka S+R, a research-focused not-for-profit that assists academic communities.

Alison joined Yale Investments in March 2023 to focus on the Endowment’s leveraged buyout and venture capital portfolios. She spent over 15 years leading the buyout, growth equity, and venture capital portfolios at the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation. Alison was also at Morgan Stanley in the M&A group and at the SeriousFun Network, a global non-profit focused on children with life-threatening illnesses. She graduated from the Wharton School in 2001 with a BS in Economics.

Kayla joined Yale Investments in September 2024 and provides executive support for the strategic leadership and operations team. Before Yale, she spent almost ten years at the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, including roles as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the CEO, HR Director, and Program Director. She is an active member of Chabad at Yale and serves on the boards of the Orchard Street Shul and the Jewish Cemetery Association.

Lili interned with Yale Investments as an undergraduate while she earned a BS in both Economics and Statistics and Data Science from Yale College in 2023. She focuses on the Endowment’s marketable alternatives portfolio.

Stephanie joined the Office of the General Counsel in May 2008. She focuses on the Endowment’s developed and emerging equities, marketable alternatives portfolios, regulatory matters, and capital markets support. She graduated from Yale College in 1997 with a BA in Ethics, Politics, and Economics, and received her JD from Harvard Law School in 2002. Stephanie was an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP.

Amy joined Yale Investments in 2014. She focuses on Yale’s investment process, strategy, and organization, in addition to managing the Endowment’s private equity investments in Asian markets. Amy graduated from Princeton University in 2012 with a degree in Operations Research and Financial Engineering. Before joining YIO, she worked at the Princeton University Investment Company. Amy became a CFA® charterholder in 2016 and she co-teaches ECON 450: Investment Analysis at Yale College.

Deborah joined the Office of the General Counsel in February 2006. She works on investments across various asset classes, regulatory and policy developments, institutional matters, and corporate governance. Deborah received her BA from Princeton University in the School of Public and International Affairs in 1996, and her JD from Harvard Law School in 2000. Deborah was an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP, and is a Fellow of Davenport College.

Before joining Yale Investments in 2023, Vinny spent 12 years in investment banking, partnering with higher education and non-profit institutions to access capital markets. He worked with Yale and many other institutions to issue tax-exempt and taxable debt, execute derivatives, analyze financing structures, and explore partnership opportunities. Vinny received a BBA in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland in 2007, and he became a CFA® charterholder in 2011 and a CAIA® charterholder in 2021.

Sofia joined Yale Investments in July 2024 after graduating from Yale College with a Bachelor of Arts in both History and Economics. She focuses on the Endowment’s developed equities portfolio.

Joe graduated from Yale College with a BA in both Economics and Global Affairs and interned with Yale Investments as an undergraduate before joining us in July 2020. He focuses on the Endowment’s leveraged buyouts portfolio. Joe became a CFA® charterholder in 2024, and he is a Fellow of Trumbull College and a First-Year advisor.

Jill joined Yale Investments in May 2022 to provide executive support to the Chief Investment Officer and the Investment Committee. Before joining Yale, she was the Director of Operations and Assistant to the President for the University of New Haven. Jill earned a BA in Marketing from Millikin University in 1990 and an MBA from Bentley University in 1992.

Since joining Yale Investments in May 2023, Jon has been responsible for broadly enabling the investment team and managing risk controls, finance, performance reporting and analytics, data and technology, talent and personnel resources, and operational due diligence. Jon graduated from Princeton in 2008 with a degree in Religion and received his MBA from the Yale School of Management in 2020. He spent 13 years at Bridgewater Associates in several executive roles, and as VP of Strategy and Operations at VMware.

Lori joined the Office of the General Counsel in November 2022. She provides administrative support to the legal team. Prior to Yale, Lori worked as a lead administrative assistant in the legal department at People’s United Bank for 16 years.

Shemeka joined Yale Investments in September 2024 and provides executive support to managing directors and directors across several asset classes. Prior to Yale, she spent eight years at Antares Capital as an Executive Assistant, working closely with multiple C-level executives and their teams.

Grace joined Yale Investments in July 2022 after interning as an undergraduate. She focuses on the Endowment’s climate and emerging equities portfolios. Grace graduated from Yale College in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Ethics, Politics, and Economics and a certificate in Mandarin.

Zakaria interned with Yale Investments as an undergraduate before joining us in July 2022. He focuses on the Endowment’s venture capital and retirement assets portfolios. Zakaria (“Zak-a-rhee-a”) graduated from Yale College with a BS in Computer Science and Economics. While at Yale, he worked as an investment partner at the Dorm Room Fund.

Ryan joined Yale Investments in August 2020. He focuses on the Endowment’s data and analytics strategies and is responsible for the implementation of technology systems. Previously, Ryan was a Business Intelligence Associate at Greenspring Associates. He graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2017 with a BBA focused in Finance and a minor in Information Systems.

Alex joined Yale Investments in August 2006 after graduating with a BA in both Economics and Computer Science from Yale College, where he now co-teaches ECON 450: Investment Analysis. Alex focuses on the Endowment’s developed equities and marketable alternatives portfolios in addition to asset allocation and spending policy analysis. He became a CFA® charterholder in 2010 before choosing to become inactive in 2015.

Renetta joined Yale Investments in February 2022, and she supports reception and hospitality services. Prior to her time at Yale, Renetta worked in the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services. She graduated from Quinnipiac College in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Yusuke joined the Yale Investments team in July 2020 after interning as an undergraduate. He focuses on the Endowment’s emerging equities and Asian venture capital and leveraged buyouts portfolios. Yusuke graduated from Yale College in 2020 with a BA in Economics and Mathematics, and he is a Fellow of Saybrook College.

Michael joined Yale Investments in September 2010. As a member of the Finance and Investment Operations team, he focuses on technology-related projects. Michael graduated from Providence College in 1988 with a BA in Business Economics, and spent over 10 years with BNY Mellon’s Eagle Investments Systems as a member of the global consulting team. He also worked at SS&C Technologies in software implementation and in the Quantitative Research group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Joyce joined Yale Investments in November 2020 after interning during her time as an undergraduate. She focuses on the Endowment’s venture capital portfolio. Joyce graduated from Yale College in 2018 with a BA in both Economics and Global Affairs. Previously, Joyce was an airlines equity research analyst at Goldman Sachs. She became a CFA® charterholder in 2024.

Since joining in August 2023, Bill has enabled the Yale Investments mission by delivering technology and data capabilities. Prior to Yale, Bill spent 10 years as a software engineer and technology consultant and 13 years in several executive roles at Bridgewater Associates. He was the Investments COO at Digital Currency Group, and has acted as a technology and strategy advisor to multiple non-profits and startups. Bill graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce with degrees in Math and Computer Science in 1997.

Liz joined the Office of the General Counsel in August 2017. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History and her Paralegal Certificate from the University of Saint Joseph in 2006. Prior to Yale, Liz worked as a paralegal at Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP.

Alan interned with Yale Investments as an undergraduate before joining in July 2021. He focuses on the Endowment’s developed equities and marketable alternatives portfolios. Alan graduated from Yale College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics. He became a CFA® charterholder in 2024, and he is a Fellow of Trumbull College.

Daniel interned as an undergraduate before joining Yale Investments in July 2023. He focuses on the Endowment’s real assets portfolio. Daniel graduated from Yale College with a BS in Computer Science and Economics and a BA in Statistics and Data Science. He plays the bells in Harkness Tower as part of the Yale University Guild of Carillonneurs.

Mark joined Yale Investments in 2024 after interning as an undergraduate student. He focuses on the Endowment’s leveraged buyout portfolio. Mark graduated from Yale College in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science and certificates in Statistics & Data Science and Education Studies.

Prior to leading Yale Investments as CIO, Matt managed the Endowment’s venture capital portfolio and helped manage most of the assets in which Yale invests, notably leveraged buyouts and natural resources. Matt joined in 2007 upon graduating from Yale College with a BS in Physics. He is a CFA® charterholder, he taught endowment management at the Yale School of Management from 2013-18, and he is a Fellow of Berkeley College.

Kelsie joined the Office of the General Counsel in November 1998. Kelsie earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 1997 and her Master of Business Administration in 2015 from Southern Connecticut State University. She earned her Paralegal Certification from the University of Connecticut in 2004.

Before joining Yale Investments in 2013, Danny interned as an undergraduate. He earned a BA in Economics from Yale College in 2012. Danny focuses on the Endowment’s real assets portfolio and climate investments, as well as the Prospect Fellowship program. He is a CFA® charterholder and has served as a Berkeley Fellow, a faculty adviser, and a board member for the Yale Hockey Association.

Vishal interned at Yale Investments as an undergraduate while earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Economics from Yale College in 2020. He concentrates on the Endowment’s venture capital portfolio and climate-related investments, and helps implement new technology within the office. Before that, he focused on the real assets portfolio. Vishal serves on the board of the Urban Philanthropic Fund and is a Fellow of Pauli Murray College.

Sohail joined the Office of the General Counsel in February 2016, focusing on venture capital, regulatory matters, and talent and outreach initiatives. He received his BA in History and Philosophy from Fordham University in 2006, and his JD from Yale Law School in 2010. Sohail was an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP and served on the board of the Dominican Bar Association. He teaches Legal Analysis and Writing at Yale Law School and is a Fellow of Berkeley College.

Michelle joined Yale Investments in September 2008 and assists with records management. Before her time at Yale, she worked at Tyler Cooper & Alcorn LLP.

John joined Yale Investments in July 2008 and focuses on the Endowment’s developed equities and real assets portfolios. He’s involved in asset allocation and liquidity management in addition to the Prospect Fellowship program. John graduated from Yale College with a BA in Economics in 2008 and he is a CFA® charterholder. He also sits on the Investment Committee of New Canaan Country School.

Marcella serves as a member of the strategic leadership and operations team and is responsible for advancing Yale’s planning, talent, communications, and stakeholder engagement efforts. Before joining Yale Investments in January 2024, she spent more than a decade at Bridgewater Associates, supporting the firm’s transition from founder-led boutique to institution. She has also worked in broadcast news and public relations. Marcella graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Communications in 2010.

Cameron joined the Office of the General Counsel in June 2023 after serving as an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. He works on investments across various asset classes with a focus on tax-related matters. Cameron graduated from Yale College in 2013 with a BA in both History and Global Affairs, received his JD from Yale Law School in 2018, and received his LLM in Taxation from NYU School of Law in 2023.

Bob joined Yale Investments in January 2024, and he oversees finance, investment operations, and operational due diligence. Bob received a BS in Accounting from the University of Hartford in 1995 and an MBA from NYU in 2003. He spent 24 years working at alternative asset management firms, including Angel Island Capital, Archview Investment Group, Chilton Investment Company, and Satellite Asset Management. He also spent four years in public accounting, most recently at KPMG, where he earned his CPA.

Isabelle joined the Office of the General Counsel in 2025. Prior to her appointment at Yale, Isabelle served in various compliance roles including most recently Chief Compliance Officer for the registered funds at Prudential. Her law firm experience includes serving as Of Counsel at Morrison & Foerster LLP. Isabelle earned her B.A. from Yale College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Michelle joined Yale Investments in February 2024 and focuses on the Endowment’s marketable alternatives portfolio. She graduated from Yale College in 2011 with a BA in Political Science. Michelle spent 10 years in the asset management division of Goldman Sachs, sourcing and investing in hedge funds and public equity strategies for institutional clients. She also worked in Goldman’s private equity business as a product specialist, and she is a CFA® charterholder.

Cole joined Yale Investments in August 2023 and focuses on the Endowment’s real estate portfolio. He graduated from Yale College in 2013 with a BA in Economics and received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2020. Previously, Cole worked in real estate investing across capital structures and various real estate sectors at Morgan Stanley and Dune Real Estate Partners. Most recently, he worked at KKR where he was a Principal on the real estate equity team.

She previously worked in Yale’s Office of Development as an Event Coordinator, and she graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Before joining Yale, Chris was an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.
